Vermiculite - FINE (1-3mm)

Grow Chem Fine Vermiculite provides the perfect micro-environment for delicate seeds and young cuttings.

• This 1-3mm Grade is finely milled, and is ideal for small seed cells and propagation trays without leaving large air gaps that can dry out fragile new roots.
• Sprinkled lightly over the surface of freshly sown seeds, it creates a protective, moisture-retaining blanket that resists fungal growth and damping-off diseases.
• Crucially, its naturally flaky, semi-translucent structure allows vital sunlight to filter through to the soil surface.
• This means surface-sown seeds that strictly require light to trigger germination—such as busy lizzies, salvias, begonias, or snapdragons—can be safely covered rather than left completely exposed to the open air.
• The fine layer acts like a miniature greenhouse, locking in essential humidity and shielding delicate seeds from drafts or being washed away during watering, all without blocking the light they need to germinate successfully.
