Citric Acid (Food Grade)

£8.95

Citric acid is found naturally in citrus fruits, especially lemons and limes. It’s what gives them their tart, sour taste.

Citric Acid is commonly used as an additive in food, and cleaning agents.

Citric Acid is also used as a household cleaner and degreaser and descaler, and works great on most surfaces and even hard to clean areas.

Cooking / Food preparation

  • Citric Acid is predominantly used as a flavouring and preserving agent — especially in soft drinks, sweets, jams and chutneys.
  • Replaces lemon juice in recipes
  • Emulsifying agent in ice cream
  • Added to caramels to stop crystallisation

Cleaning / household

  • Cleans and descales taps and shower doors.
  • Kills bacteria, cuts grease and stains on floors, countertops and tables
  • Cleans dirty windows
  • Cleans wine stains
  • Removes colour, wax and dirt from hair
  • Add 50g to half filled kettle and boil for 5-10 mins to descale.

Bathing

  • Citric Acid is used to make bath bombs, when mixed with Sodium Bicarbonate.
